The Turkish-Armenian War was a conflictin the fall of 1920 between the Democratic Republic of Armenia and Turkish nationalists, which started after the harsh measures imposed on the Ottoman Empire by the Allies after World War I. In the Peace of Sèvres, the Turks had to surrender territory to Armenia. After an initial Armenian occupation, the Turkish army under Kâzım Karabekir reversed Armenian gains and recaptured the territory that the Ottoman Empire had lost to the Russian Empire in 1855 and 1878.
