The National Bank of Kazakhstan is the central bank of Republic of Kazakhstan and is primarily responsible for the strategic monetary policy planning of the country as well as the issuance of the national currency, the Tenge. The headquarters of the bank is in Nur-Sultan.

History

The National Bank of Kazakhstan was formed on April 13, 1993 with the reorganisation of the Soviet era Kazakh Republican bank (Goasbank) to become the central bank of Kazahstan.

It became the founder of the Kazakhstan Deposit Insurance Fund on 15 November 1999.
