Turbék / Türbe
While today, its former territories belong to the town of Szigetvár, it was originally an Ottoman settlement in the 16th and 17th centures. According to archaeological researchers, it is the exact place where Suleiman the Magnificent died during the Siege of Szigetvár. A tomb was built for Suleiman at the site where his body was kept for a short time and his heart and internal organs were buried. Later a mosque, a Dervish cloister and other new buildings emerged around the tomb and the place became a Muslim pilgrimage site. The settlement of Turbék was completely devastated by the Habsburg troops in the 1680s.
